March 16 Reflections

The Compassion and Forgiveness of the Lord

  • How can you see God’s compassion, patience, and love expressed through the biblical story?

  • Does anyone in this week’s reading deserve the compassion shown by the Lord?

  • Do you have difficulty at times remembering the Lord’s compassion and patience with you?

  • Consider: The Biblical story is full of accounts detailing mankind’s unfaithfulness in the face of God’s grace and compassion. Scripture repeats the theme that the Lord is “slow to anger, compassionate, and abounding in love.” Jesus’ ministry resounds with his compassion for the broken, the outcast, and the desperate. Yet none of us are worthy of God’s mercy. John 3:16 tells us that despite our sinful hearts, God loved us enough to send the Messiah and that our belief in Jesus was su]icient to save us. His love truly abounds in this story!
