April 20 Reflections

The Messiah’s Ascension and Ongoing Work

  • How does the ascension of Jesus affirm His ongoing work in the Kingdom of God?

  • What aspects of the broken and fallen world will be redeemed through the atonement of Jesus’ crucifixion? How does that affect your worldview?

  • How does Jesus’ role as High Priest encourage you in your walk with Him?

  • What are areas of your life that you have never surrendered to Jesus as King?

  • Consider: As Christians, we often prioritize Jesus as the “friend of sinners” while minimizing His identity as the King of Kings. Fortunately, He is both. He is personal and loving toward us as we stumble through life, surviving only by his grace. Simultaneously, He is the name above all names and the King of kings. Paul argues that by the power of his blood shed on the cross that Jesus will reconcile all things in heaven and on earth (Colossians 1:20). The cross not only created an avenue for me to experience everlasting life, it also becomes the mechanism for redeeming all that was broken in the world by sin. He is truly the King of the cosmos!
